‘I especially enjoy coaching and mentoring my younger colleagues.’

– Stefan, Audit Manager

I really appreciate the friendly atmosphere, open and direct way of communicating, and working with smart and humble people. The team activities and all the fun that comes with them, such as visits to the Netherlands and hosting Dutch colleagues in Serbia.

When did you start at The Finance Generation?

I started at The Finance Generation on November 1, 2022.

What were the reasons for applying to work at The Finance Generation?

The first time I heard about The Finance Generation, I got the impression that it was a young, innovative audit company started by experienced audit professionals. Their intention was to introduce a more efficient, data-driven approach to auditing for the mutual benefit of the audit professionals and their clients. I was enthusiastic about this and wanted to become a part of it.

What was your first impression of the company?

My first impression of the company was that the colleagues were friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable. The partners were dedicated to creating an environment for audit professionals to do their job efficiently while also having fun in the process. The team consisted of confident and hardworking professionals who recognized the need for a work-life balance and the many positive outcomes it brings to the organization.

What is your current impression of the company?

Through learning the methodology and tools used at The Finance Generation, getting used to the way of working, and everyday interactions with my colleagues, I am now impressed with the well-set up, productive, and encouraging work environment. The knowledgeable and engaging partners provide participative guidance, while my colleagues are always willing to help with a smile. It’s a great team!

Can you elaborate on your own career/background and how The Finance Generation fits into this perspective?

After 7 years at a big 4 audit firm, where I gained valuable experience, I came to a point where I was certain about my career choice, but I was striving for a fresh start. I appreciated that The Finance Generation was started by experienced big 4 audit professionals who share a passion for audit and a commitment to finding new ways to make it a fun and creative job without sacrificing quality. I recognized the chance to be a part of the first steps of the newly opened branch in Serbia, participate in designing its processes, building the team in the Serbian office, while making connections and strengthening relationships with the team in the Netherlands, so we can all work as one team.

Can you explain what the most difficult things were when you started working for a Dutch auditing company?

In the beginning, we faced smaller, everyday challenges with a few tools that were set up only in Dutch or partially in English. With the help of our Dutch colleagues, we quickly overcame these challenges, and I even learned a few Dutch words! There were also specific Dutch legislation topics that I needed to learn about, but with guidance, training, and available knowledge resources, it did not take much time to become confident in dealing with them.

In which way can you describe your performance and your added value to the Dutch auditing branch?

What I like about the audit profession is that it requires you to employ all your social and intellectual resources on top of specific knowledge of accounting and auditing topics. In substance, that is how I approach my job. Practically speaking, as a manager, I am responsible for ensuring that the audit work is delivered according to plan and with high quality for our clients, keeping the partners informed of the progress of the audit projects, and seeking their consultations where needed. I coach and mentor my younger colleagues to support their learning and well-being, keep them involved and motivated, which is the part of my role that I especially enjoy.

I really appreciate the friendly atmosphere, open and direct way of communicating, and working with smart and humble people. The team activities and all the fun that comes with them, such as visits to the Netherlands and hosting Dutch colleagues in Serbia.
