‘By integrating data analytics and modern tools, we have streamlined routine tasks, making our work more efficient and fun.’
– Nikola Rajić, Audit Senior at The Finance Generation
What drew you to join TFG and how has the journey been so far?
I have always aspired to be part of an ambitious new project – one where I could contribute to its growth while evolving professionally. My journey with TFG began quite spontaneously. Through conversations with the director in Serbia and the founding partners, I quickly realized that a team of highly experienced and entrepreneurial auditors had united around a shared vision: to build upon the traditional foundations of auditing while integrating innovative solutions, increasing flexibility, and making the process more dynamic and engaging for everyone involved.
Learning from their expertise in auditing, critical thinking, and client relationship management, while also refining my English skills and gaining insight into the Dutch market and economy, felt like an invaluable opportunity. On top of that, working with international colleagues and clients added another exciting dimension.
Over the past two years, I have grown through each engagement, gaining experience and taking on increasing responsibilities and roles within the team. I have worked on audits for both Dutch and multinational companies, which involved multiple business trips to the Netherlands and other countries. These trips weren’t just about work – they also fostered connections with colleagues through team dinners, sports activities, and cultural experiences, making the journey even more fulfilling.
What were the reasons for applying to work at The Audit Generation?
One of the main reasons I decided to change jobs is the opportunity for professional development and advancement that The Finance Generation offers. I believe that this company will provide me with new challenges and opportunities for learning and growth. Additionally, what sets the company apart and further attracted me is the positive reputation The Finance Generation has regarding its work culture and company values.
What challenges did you face when you first started working with a Dutch auditing company, and how did you overcome them?
When I first joined TFG, one of the biggest challenges I faced was adapting to the format of audit evidence, which was predominantly in Dutch at the time. Since our client portfolio had not yet expanded to include as many international clients as we have now, reviewing documents in a foreign language required extra effort. Additionally, the advanced use of data analytics in audits was new to me. It took several weeks to fully grasp the existing data analysis and validations so I could rely on them without uncertainties.
Another challenge was communicating in English in a professional setting. Having had limited experience using English in a business environment, I initially felt less confident during lengthy discussions.
I am deeply grateful to all my colleagues for their patience and willingness to help me overcome these challenges during my early days at TFG. A special thanks to Angela, who worked closely with us from the Belgrade office for several months. Their guidance and support made the transition much smoother – not just for me, but for the entire team.
Can you share a memorable project or challenge you’ve worked on and how it shaped your growth?
Throughout my journey, many projects have been memorable, each contributing to my growth and expertise in different ways. Rather than highlighting a single engagement, I see the overall growth of our company as the most impactful project I’ve been a part of.
We started as a small team in Serbia, but over time, management and the market recognized our talent, dedication, and the foundation we had built through our experience in local audit firms. As a result, our team expanded, and the company grew in every aspect – from moving into a larger office space to introducing new support functions that improve our work environment and allow us to focus on delivering high-quality audit engagements.
Our methodology has also evolved to keep pace with the latest legal and professional standards. By integrating data analytics and modern tools, we have streamlined routine tasks, making our work more efficient and fun.
After two years, I take great pride in having witnessed and contributed to this growth- not just in the company’s expansion but also in fostering a strong culture, building meaningful relationships with our Dutch colleagues, and enhancing client satisfaction. I look forward to continuing this journey with TFG, striving for further development and success.
How would you describe the work culture here?
Our team is made up of talented, ambitious young professionals with strong work ethics, creating an environment full of learning opportunities. Proactivity, brainstorming, and bringing fresh ideas to the table are highly encouraged and appreciated by the partners, ensuring that everyone’s opinion is valued and heard. This open and inclusive approach fosters confidence to express ideas, even in front of more experienced colleagues.
Beyond work, TFG actively promotes networking and team bonding through various social events, team-building activities, and sports challenges. These initiatives not only strengthen relationships but also help us stay active and balanced despite the nature of our desk-based jobs.
If you could give advice to someone considering joining TFG, what would it be?

You’ll gain valuable experience, work on interesting projects, and be encouraged to develop both your technical and soft skills. The atmosphere is open and collaborative, making it easy to learn and progress in your career. If you want to make an impact while enjoying the ride, this is the place for you!
