‘The collaboration has enabled us to run the first assignments and to help set up the practice.’

– Niek van der Eng, Partner at Nexia DHW

Can you briefly introduce your organization and explain your role in it?

We are De Hooge Waerder/Nexia DHW, a medium-sized accountancy organization in North Holland. We provide various services, in particular accountancy, audit, HR, legal and corporate finance. I am co-responsible for the branch in Amsterdam (Nexia DHW).

What challenges did your organization face in terms of audit capacity?

We have recently been able to hire many good employees, but we always have room for more good employees given the growth we are currently experiencing and the ambitions we have.

How did you look for a structural solution?

We invest a lot in the recruitment of employees throughout the organization. In the field of audit, we have started to focus more on approaching students/starters, and also tried to increase the number of employees in the intermediate layer through recruitment campaigns. The team in Belgrade complements this perfectly with a strong mix of experience and ambitious accountants.

Why did you ultimately choose to work with The Finance Generation?

The first conversations were pleasant and in terms of culture it seemed to suit us well. In addition, there turned out to be enough good profiles in the Serbian market, there is no time difference and it offered us the option to move quickly in a flexible way.

How did the start of the collaboration go (onboarding, communication, involvement)?

Communication was always smooth, even if not everything went smoothly at the start. The team in Belgrade is flexible and fair.

How do you experience working with the audit professionals from Serbia in daily practice?

Positive. The team members have adapted quickly. They are really part of the team and the communication is clear and flexible. The team is largely able to run assignments independently.

What do you think is the biggest advantage of the nearshoring model offered by
The Finance Generation?

That it looks fairly close in terms of location and experience. We work together for the most part via Teams, but it also turned out to be easy to visit. In terms of culture, it also fits together well.

What has the collaboration brought you so far in terms of capacity, quality and workload?

The collaboration has enabled us to run the first assignments and to help set up the practice. The quality of the employees is not inferior to the Dutch and communication with the customer is good. The majority of the audit clients at Nexia DHW are internationally oriented, so they are not surprised that they have to deal with non-Dutch colleagues.

How do your colleagues experience working with the professionals from Belgrade?

The experience so far has been positive. The assistants receive sufficient guidance, even from a distance. Colleagues from other firms who occasionally deal with colleagues are also positive.

How would you describe the collaboration with The Finance Generation in three key words?

Open, flexible and fast.

Would you recommend The Finance Generation? Why?

Yes, the willingness to think along and openness in communication are important values that we greatly appreciate in the collaboration.
